Gracie,
You are so thoughtful. Thank you so very much for such a beautiful Christmas Greeting. I hope that your Christmas was and your New Year will be both peaceful
and healthy.
Dear Misdiagnosed, I am a 54 year old nurse. I am so sorry you lost your mother to stomach cancer. I recently lost my sister-in-law to stomach cancer, and
she was misdiagnosed also. There are three very experienced nurses in the family, and we all knew something was wrong, but we didn't know what. I feel
terribly guilty about that, and I imagine the other nurses in the family do also. I doubt that this will bring comfort to you now, but most people either die
from cancer or from heart problems. I understand your outrage. I want to encourage you to be proactive. My daughter and I recently engaged in American
Cancer Society Relay for Life. It was a wonderful experience. Our community raised $100,000 for cancer research. I came to this website today because my 16
year old daughter is living with thyroid cancer. Fortunately, her doctor found it by accident, and we have gotten good treatment. Life is like a river, you
can never set your foot in the same river twice. I wish you the best always. Sincerely, a nurse.

Hi There,
I am is sorry to hear about the lost of your sister in law. Please do not feel guilty about your sister in law. Yes, you are nurses. However, her primary care
physician probably knew more about her health than you ladies/gentlemen did and if he or she did not know what her condition was, they have a responsibility to
refer her to specialist for further testing. Stomach cancer is a very painful form of cancer as I am sure you know. I am so sorry that your sister-in-law like
my mother had to endure this illness. What was the original diagnosis if you don't mind me asking? I appreciate your email. It would be good if others
can read your post. I would love for them to know that this type of misdiagnosis is more common than we assume. However, I understand if you would rather be
anonymous.
The good thing is that your daughters thyroid cancer was caught. The sad thing is that she has cancer. However, I will remain in hope that all will go well
and that any form of treatment that she is pursuing will be successful. My mother also had surgery related to her thyroid after her diagnosis. Her potassium
levels were extremely high. So, she underwent a minor surgery to remove lymph nodes and was given medication to help regulate the potassium level in her body.
Please be encouraged. I DO NOT beleive that cancer is not the most powerful force. However, I do believe that an early diagnoses can only help by providing the
patient time to make well informed choice. Please keep us posted on her progress.
Just getting this message and I'll get to it first thing tomorrow, if I don't later tonight. Thanks for giving it's own heading
